Usability

The concrete goal of this project consists in providing many package management facilities through system base tools. In this section we present PackageFS usability, transposing some of the administrator work to the file system level.

This part has been splitted into few sections representing common package management tasks. Each section briefly describes the specific operation. Then it shows a table holding command syntax from the default package manager of the corresponding distribution and from the system base utilities that deal with PackageFS. We highlight here that these tables do not compare features, but only display usability differences because, as already said, our implementation relies on low-level package managers. Thus, each value belonging to PackageFS has to be considered only if these latter support it. If needed we append some notes including PackageFS benefits or lacks.
